New York Spring Season Performances Peridance Contemporary Dance Company
March 26, 2019
New York City’s acclaimed Peridance Contemporary Dance Company returns to the Salvatore Capezio Theater for its annual Spring Season with two powerful programs on March 17th-18th and 24th-25th, 2018.
The company has been a trailblazer of energetic and evocative dance since 1984 and this year is no different. This season brings innovative new works from three distinguished choreographers: Artistic Director Igal Perry, Adam Barruch, and Norbert De La Cruz III.
The 2018 Spring Season will kick off with Igal Perry’s newest full-length work Gran Partita, originally commissioned by and performed with the PostClassical Ensemble and the Washington Ballet Studio Company in 2016. Gran Partita is accompanied by the Manhattan School of Music musicians, with notable conductor Angel Gil-Ordoñez, and illustrates Mozart’s sublime and sensitive score for wind ensemble.
In this full company work, Perry delves into the synergy between movement and sound as the music grows, a perfect example of his fresh and timelessly elegant style. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. The second weekend features both new and restaged works. Princess Grace Award-winning choreographer Norbert De La Cruz III premieres his newest work Face to Face, with original music by composer Nathan
Prillaman. Acclaimed choreographer Adam Barruch presents his duet, Folie à Duex. The company also brings back Marlena Wolfe’s powerful YOUnite and excerpts from Perry’s Dia-Mono-Logues, a captivating piece recently pictures in the New York Times.
The company features a cast of dancers from the US and abroad who bring a beautiful range of voices to each work. In two physical and diverse programs, this Spring Season is sure to elevate and inspire audiences.
Peridance Contemporary Dance will continue its 2018 programming with performances at the National Arts Club, Stony Brook University, Dance to Unite Annual Benefit, the Young Choreographer’s Festival, and Union Square’s Summer In The Square.
