The National Children’s Chorus

March 26, 2017

The National Children’s Chorus, America’s leading youth choral institution, provides musically talented children in New York City the opportunity to learn and grow in an extraordinary environment. The finest instructors work with students to develop their vocal skills from the most basic concepts through the college level. Students of the National Children’s Chorus are represented by more than one hundred schools throughout New York state, and meet weekly for rehearsal and musicianship study. The extensive curriculum includes college-level conducting, composition, music theory, sight-singing in the Kodály Method and individual voice training in the bel canto style. Through a holistic approach to educate the total musician within each child, recent graduates from the program have gone on to be accepted at top schools around the country, such as the Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School.

The National Children’s Chorus is hosting Fall 2016 auditions on Thursday, October 20th at The Church of St. Paul the Apostle in New York. Several students selected for the program will perform in world-class performances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and beyond as part of the 2016/17 concert season, entitled Metamorphosis.

NCC’s Artistic Director Luke McEndarfer said, “We have excitedly begun the 2016/17 season, and anticipate the musical artistry to come! Metamorphosis ushers in for the NCC a new level of commitment to the choral art form as a life-changing and transformative experience, both for its performers and audience members alike. This season culminates in the NCC’s 3rd major international tour to Italy in July, with visits and musical presentations in Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome.”
