Who We Are

Little Atelier of Young Children is a dedicated early childhood program. We have the preschool program serving children from 2 to 5 yrs old and the after school program for K ~ 2nd grade and up. We acknowledge children’s unlimited potential and value the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge.

About us

Little Atelier of Young Children is a nursery school for children ages 2 to 5. We are inspired by Reggio Emilia approach. We acknowledge children’s unlimited potential. We value the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and the place within it. We are to help them develop self-directed learning skills and learn the value of cooperation and empathy. We believe that environment is an important factor in children’s learning that it works as the “third teacher”. Beautiful environment gives great motivation to children’s creativity and strengthens resilience to the world around them.

We do our best to provide motivating, inspiring and nurturing learning environment to the children and their families in Bayside community.

Reggio Emilia Approach – Preschool program 

The Reggio Emilia Approach to education was started by the schools of Reggio Emilia, a city in Italy, after World War II and has become renowned as one of the best educational systems in the world.  Its curriculum is based on project-based curriculum with lessons following children’s interests. Many of Little Atelier’s projects are children-oriented and teacher-framed. The concept of equal collaboration among teachers, parents, and children along with the community are seen as co-constructors of knowledge. It places emphasis on the arts as children’s symbolic language. Our program is for parents who want their child to be a good citizen who knows how to cooperate and resolve conflicts with others.

 

STEAM After School Program

STEAM is an educational approach we use for our after school program. The components of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics are infused in our Reading, Writing, Math, Art and Cooking programs. Throughout the daily activities students have a lot of dialogues and discussions and they come up with thoughtful inquiries and critical thinking process. Little Atelier’s mission is to support students to take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem solving, embrace in collaboration, and work through the creative process.

The after school program is for K ~ 2nd grade and up.
